Job Title: Director of Development, National Campaigns

Organization: Regional Nonprofit

FLSA Status: Full-Time/40 Hours per Week

Job Location: Remote:  AL, GA, FL, TN preferably

POSITION SUMMARY

The Director of Development is responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing the organization's fundraising endeavors. This includes but is not limited to major gifts, grants, monthly/annual giving, donor relations, special events, and donor communication. As a critical part of this organization's mission, you will lead the efforts and work cooperatively to cultivate, solicit, and steward our current and potential donors. The Director of Development will handle the orchestration of the nonprofit's National donor caseload to increase support to meet their needs and reach goals, including keeping an accurate database. 

 

You will represent and promote the organization and its mission, reaching individuals, corporations, and foundations where appropriate. You will cast vision and empower teammates, board members, and volunteers to appropriately work alongside you in various development endeavors. Your focus will be on current and potential donor relations. These activities shall be consistent with the organization's mission and vision. Although workdays/hours are flexible, the Director of Development must report to the President/CEO for scheduling and planning & will additionally be responsible for coaching Hub Development Coordinators.

 

LOOKING FOR

1. Excellent interpersonal skills for interfacing and inspiring the organization's stakeholders, especially potential donors and foundations, as well as staff, the board of directors, and the general public 

2. Experience working in the nonprofit sector 

3. Demonstrates exceptional leadership abilities, effectively guiding and coaching Hub Development Coordinators to achieve goals and foster team and organizational growth 

4. The ability to meet or exceed goals set for you by the President/CEO and report updates regularly as requested 

5. Must understand and adhere to the high standards of excellence required for development professionals regarding all aspects of development work, especially donor confidentiality, and discretion 

6. Successful experience or willingness to learn how to write grants and/or support grant-writing initiatives is preferred but not required 

7. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to inspire readers and listeners 

8. Must be independent, have sound judgment, and be a self-starter 

9. Proficient in working with technology or willing to learn and master 

10. The ability to work within established guidelines and meet goals and deadlines 

11. The ability to work well remotely, alone, and with teammates in other departments 

12. Ability and willingness to demonstrate commitment to the mission, vision, and core values of the organization

13. Excellent organization and time management skills 

14. Ability to delegate tasks and follow up appropriately

 

EDUCATION BACKGROUND

Relevant college degree and/or combination of education and applicable experience (including, but not limited to sales, business, nonprofit, philanthropy, marketing, or communications). Relevant experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree
