Position Description
The Grants Manager is responsible for researching, developing, and preparing grant proposals to corporations and foundations. As a key member of the Development Team, this position helps the organization meet its annual fundraising goal. The Grants Manager works in partnership with staff to successfully apply for funding opportunities for programmatic initiatives, report on program outcomes, and share organization’s story from a strengths-based perspective.
The Manager is responsible for increasing the footprint of The Foundry through Development initiatives. The Manager works closely with the Chief Development Officer in all development and stewardship endeavors.

Research and identify prospective funding partners in alignment with organization’s mission

Learn organization’s programs, goals, and financial needs to develop compelling proposals, seek new funding, and report on funding impact

Work closely with staff members to synthesize program activities, data, and financials for proposals and reports

In partnership with Chief Development Officer, develop annual grants plan; including funding strategies and timelines

Provide stewardship to current donors and assist with managing relationships with foundation officers

Maintaining calendar to ensure timely submission of letter of inquiry, proposal deadlines, and reports

Prioritizing tasks to keep multiple projects moving in a timely manner, meet deadlines and manage supplemental material required for proposals

Assist Development staff in planning, attending, and executing external events to bring awareness to the organization

Conduct community presentations and give tours of The Foundry properties as needed

Provide input and assistance in the creation and use of all donor support and collateral materials (brochures, case statements, media kits, personalized proposals, videos, and stewardship correspondence)

Collaborate with Business Department to ensure that donor records and financial information are accurate and up to date

Knowledge of and ability to utilize donor management software to analyze and upgrade donor base and maintain accurate donor records

Qualifications and Education Requirements
Education:
-
Bachelor’s degree and experience in related field or three (3) years’ experience in grant writing/operations
Experience:
-
Minimum of three (3) years in non-profit development
-
Knowledge of grant process (prospecting, researching, writing, reporting)

Federal and local legislation affecting charities
-
A solid understanding of budgets as they relate to proposals and grants

Management of volunteer resources
Technical Skills:

Proficient in Microsoft Office/MAC applications

Experienced in using multimedia devices for presentations

Ability to learn and use fundraising software and grant management platform
