Central Alabama Wellness is a 501c3 organization dedicated to serving the communities of Shelby and Chilton Counties.  We believe wellness is an active process of becoming aware and making choices towards a healthy and fulfilling life.  Wellness is more than being free from illness, it is a process of change and growth.  Maintaining wellness is the cornerstone to achieving the best possible quality of life. At Central Alabama Wellness, our goal is to help others live life well.

 

For more than 50 years, Central Alabama Wellness has served the community through a wide array of services, including therapy, psychiatry, case management residential services, and other community-based services. The organization’s services are certified through the Alabama Department of Health.

 

Position Summary

​

Central Alabama Wellness is a growing organization, and the Director of Operations will be a critical part of our Executive Team. Applicants should have strong leadership skills and the ability to approach business with a creative point of view. The Director of Operations will lead our team clinicians, direct care providers, and administrative staff to be efficient, productive, and effective. The ideal candidate has experience within health and human services, preferably having worked their way up to an executive role. We believe this trajectory helps a person develop a unique mix of business and management expertise, plus proficiency with the practices, policies, and procedures of our industry.

 

Minimum Qualifications

​

Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in one of the following: Business Administration, Social Work, Public Administration, Public Health, Psychology, Counseling, or in a related field and at least five (5) years managerial experience in mental health or substance use treatment setting.

 

Required skills and qualifications

​

  • Five or more years of experience in management roles

  • Excellent leadership skills, with steadfast resolve and personal integrity

  • Understanding of advanced business planning and regulatory issues

  • Solid grasp of data analysis and performance metrics

  • Ability to diagnose problems quickly and foresee potential issues

  • Passion to bring high quality services to people with mental health and substance use problems

 

Objectives of this role

​

  • Collaborate with Executive Team in setting and driving organizational vision, operations strategy, and hiring levels

  • Translate strategy into actionable steps for growth, implementing organization-wide goal setting, performance management, and annual operations planning

  • Oversee company operations, building a highly inclusive culture that ensures team members can thrive and that organizational goals are met

  • Ensure effective recruiting, onboarding, professional development, performance management, and retention

  • Ensure compliance with national and local business regulations, and take appropriate action when necessary

 

Responsibilities

​

  • Analyze internal operations and identify areas for process enhancement

  • Implement business strategies and plans that align with the short- and long-term objectives developed in tandem with the Executive Team.

  • Oversee operations, HR, IT department, and marketing/public relations to create a healthy environment for services to be performed.

  • Manage capital investments and expenses aggressively to ensure that the company maintains financial security.

  • Monitor operational performance and take corrective measures when necessary and prepare detailed updates and forecasts.

  • Build and maintain trusting relationships with community stakeholders and the board of directors.

  • Reviews policies, procedures, and protocols and makes recommendations for change as needed.

  • Attendance at Board of Directors meetings as scheduled.

  • Works closely with all department teams to ensure safe and effective day-to-day operations are maintained.

  • Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director

 

Preferred skills and qualifications

  • Enjoys collaborative approaches to work, but also able to function independently

  • Experience in healthcare/mental healthcare

  • High performance in a flexible and fast-paced environment

 

Compensation & Benefits

​

The range for this role is competitive based on experience.  Final offers will be contingent on a background check. A retirement contribution plan is offered.  

Additionally, a comprehensive package is available, including health and dental insurance, annual leave, sick leave, and paid holidays.
